Bertogna, S. Naef, Tamari Edizioni, Padova, Orbignano is already mentioned in the eighth century. The donation of an olive grove ad Urbignanum indeed dates back to 10 Julydonation which was made by the Lombard Aufuns to San Bartolomeo monastery in Pistoia.
Some documents certify that between andthe Presbytery of the Cathedral of Pistoia leased one of its houses located in locus qui dicitur Orbignano. The villa de Urbiniano was recognized by Bono, Bishop of Pistoia, with diploma by the emperor Henry VI dated 28 Octoberbut we know that in the following years Orbignano, together with other villages of the area for instance Lamporecchiowas a subject for a dispute between the Clergy and the Municipality of Pistoia.
